Lesbians of Color »

Sorry the title of this category kind of sucks, but blame the limits of my web program for my word choice of this category. Sorry PC lovers, but I’m doing the best that I can here with my limited budget that can only afford this somewhat sucky web program. Anyway, this category is for films with lesbian and bisexual female characters that are anything but, well, quite frankly, I say fuck it to PC here, these characters are anything but white. So, not a lot of films will be here, despite the sudden, desperate need for white people to have diversity in their programming. Hey, don’t ask me why. Just because I’m a white person, doesn’t mean I have a clue either what this sudden obsession is with white people and diversity in only their entertainment choices, but not in their real lives. White people confuse me too and people wonder why I get asked occasionally to stay at a mental hospital for a spell? The same mental hospital that Mariah Carey and Elton John have stayed at, so you know, it’s a real winner of a hospital since those two are prime examples of sanity and since the hospital misdiagnosed me. I get asked to go to the same hospital as forever insane celebrities and get misdiagnosed because of white people driving me nuts and giving me an identity crisis. Boy, the description of this category got out of hand, didn’t it? And now I’m probably going to get one of those mental hospital invitations again because of this category getting out of hand. Well, so be it. This is what the PC lovers who stalk this website and the world at large are doing to me! Anyhoo, some of the best lesbian films ever made are right here in this category. A lot of these women are amazing storytellers because they have lived real lives with real fucking problems that really can either kill you or make you stronger and not just affect your goal of a dream wedding and a house with 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms and 2.5 children. Just saying. Or as Tina Turner is singing to me right now this very second as I am typing this, I KID YOU NOT SHE REALLY IS, you better be good to me! And for those of you, like me, who are rather confused at the latest and greatest feminist movement, Tina was struggling with those damn feminists in the 1970s too, she said of them, “I couldn’t really relate to that ‘movement’ kind of thing. They were talking about ‘liberation’ — but liberation from, like, housework. That was the least of my problems. My problem was simply survival.” I like housework myself. In fact, I am a housewife, believe it or not! And I am a proud lesbian housewife. But the wife cooks and sometimes vacuums and cleans the toilet because I find that just waaayyyyy tooooo icky, so you know, we are modern like that. Shout out to MISS TINA TURNER whose book – I, TINA – put me on the path to enlightenment. And, might I add, even though everybody and their brother thinks that she has super fabulous legs; but frankly, my dear, it is Miss Tina’s fabulous beautiful behind that I could stare at all day. Just don’t tell the wife. Okay, maybe we can tell her. I don’t think she would mind staring either. ;)
And why do I know this Tina fabulous butt thing for a FACT? Because when I saw her in concert on Friday, June 13, 1997, barely in my mid-20s and clueless about my sexuality me and a middle age straight male friend and I screamed at her over and over and over again in our very up-close and very personal seats that were mere yards away from Tina’s fabulous ass, “WE LOVE YOUR ASS TINA! WE LOVE YOUR ASS! SHOW US YOUR ASS! WE LOVE IT THAT MUCH!!!” And guess what? Miss Private Dancer Tina Turner I Survived So Much Shit It Should Be Me Getting A Damn Worthless Nobel Peace Prize kept showing still budding repressed lesbian me and my middle age straight male fan her fabulous wonderful amazing almost 60 year old (YES, she was almost 60 at the time I saw her in concert and see how stupid America is with that obsession with age crap, older women are FUCKING GORGEOUS!!) ass over and over and over again!!!!! See, karma does work. Just ask Tina. And Earl. I’m just trying to be a better person too. Thanks to Tina, Earl and many others in my life too. :) I totally lost track of the topic, but it was so worth it. And so now that I’m done blathering, I guess you can read all about the Lesbians of Color in Lesbian Films now.
